Although I love Jacksonville, the reality is that it's a far cry from being deemed an "International" city.  It is what it is.  Embrace it.  Enjoy it.

Agreed.

I dont think it'll ever happen for a long long time. Although it would be unspeakably cool to see the Olympics here, I doubt it'll ever happen.

Love ya shwaz... :D
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

In 2000 I worked on the Tampa-Orlando bid for 2012 or 2016....Orlando was included mainly for the hotel rooms and the attractions....and of course the plan was to transport folks back and forth using high speed rail.

In the end, we didn't even make the for the 4 cities the USOC would consider...if I remember right, they were Chicago, Houston, Washington, and New York....in the end, Chicago was chosen but they just lost out for 2016 to Rio.

Bottom line...Jax can forget about it!

if i remember correctly, i posted an article on here a couple years ago about Birmingham's (AL not England) plans to bid for the 2016 Olympics...

personally, I'd rather save the application fee (and other associated costs) and use that money to work towards making Jax more of an Olympic, ie international, city.

This would be more like something Jacksonville could handle, but we all know it wouldn't go over well here.

Gee, you could use First Baptist Church for the performance venue!
