A Continental Flight from EWR Newark to BOG Bogota, has made an emergency diversion to Jacksonville JAX - JIA.

It was discovered a potential "NO FLY" passenger may be on board, so Continental and TSA sat her down at JIA.
Whats the latest? Did they choose us because of Military and other abundant security? Should be on your TV by 6 PM this evening, certainly at the 10 or 11pm news.

Looks like the problem is a passenger with a NAME from the no fly list, so it may be a false alarm. No criminal is going to try and sneak on a flight, when banned, by using his/her REAL NAME!  Further, Latin names can sound ominous to Yankee's (IE: NOT us Floridian's)...  My wife's name? "LIBIA" pronounced just like the country, spelled different and a hell of a lot friendlier.

The aircraft has been sitting on the tarmac for 15 minutes and Nothing has/is happening...

Now moving to the main terminal...

Poor passengers, I guess this saved them from that long boring stretch flying over Cuba!  Cuba is a dead country, not a soul, not a car, not a train, NOTHING MOVES.

FBI boarded plane, cleared suspected passenger to continue to Bogata and plane took off.

Not quite, just a problem with someones name (as I suspected). Looks like someone had the same name as a guy on the no fly list, the plane was in the air before that was picked up by security. Wow, those computers SURE ARE FAST, you have to ask yourself, if things go wrong, this beast fly's like a cast iron Frisbee... Do I feel Lucky? Bottom line, it could have been on the ground, in a lake, river, sea, or God forbid, INSIDE a building, about 100 times before someone caught the "bandito."

The idiots from the TV station speculated on how they "told the passengers" before they landed... HA HA! Can you imagine that?  How dumb would that be?

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we are making an emergency landing in Jacksonville, Florida, USA/Estados Unidos, because the TSA thinks there is a terrorist in our midst... Everyone assume crash positions!"

Crazier still, who at the TSA, Homeland Security, US Customs, FBI, Sky Marshall's, Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad (DAS), Aviación Policía Nacional de Colombia, Comando de Operaciones Especiales, Policia Fiscal y Aduanera, POLFA, Escuadrón Móvil Antidisturbios (ESMAD), Dirección Central de Policía Judicial e Inteligencia, DIJIN, and their friends, would think that a "bad guy" is going to use his REAL NAME!?!?! BOBO! BOBO! BOBO!

The joys of flying.

Yeah, that too...   This is why Flagler made Railroad - Cruise Ship transfers a reality!

I have family in Barranquilla, Colombia and have flown Avianca out of Miami not without incident.  It is never anything serious, usually a No Fly List or someone who is drunk and disturbing the peace.  Everyone on the plane claps upon landing at the airport in Barranquilla, though.  Makes you wonder...

They were clapping when they realized it was Barranquilla, rather then Cartagena, because they all have been body searched by that stunning little DAS agent at the ramp, and hoping for a repeat performance. She thought it was funny when I was cleared then returned to the back of the line!
