MJD was at the Eagle Bank Bowl is DC (rootiong for UCLA)...he was interviewed on the sideline and was sadly asked about the possibility of the Jags drafting Tim Tebow!

Why would someone ask him that, how stupid. What does Drew know or have anything to do with that?

DavidWilliams

Outstanding to hear! The Jags haven't had many pro-bowlers in the last 10 years. Congrats, MJD.

Funny he is from UCLA and a reporter asked him if his Pro team was moving to LA....not a huge jump, even for a TV Sports Reporter....

Congrats to MJD.  Anyone still think we should have kept Fred Taylor?
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

yes...its called respecting and honoring team history...I know people that contemplated not renewing their season tickets because the team let him go....and based on the loss of 18,000 season ticket holders this year, some may have done just that.

Teams have limited roster and salary space... keeping a non productive veteren for the sake of team history is not the way to go.  Successful NFL franchises evaluate talent and build a roster based on need, talent, productivity, and salary cap.  Fred will go into the Jags Hall of Fame when he retires... just as many NFL players do when their careers wind down.  The list is long of players who left the team they were identified with to finish somewhere else.

I am sorry, but anyone that did not renew their season tix because the Jags cut a 33 year old running back knows nothing about football.

Sounds like another lame excuse by people who claim to be Jags fans and just want to complain.
Considering the number of rookies that have had an impact on this teams season and the fact that Freddy T. missed most of the season due to injury, Gene Smith made the right call.

QuoteGene Smith made the right call.

Absolutely... I look forward to more good calls by Smith.  More dead wood will be cut away this off season and replaced with draft picks and lower cost free agents.

Of course none of that may matter if the collective bargaining agreement does not get done...

^^Even if they don't get a new CBA worked out, a lockout/strike wouldn't happen until 2011.

And yes, Gene Smith is da man!

He's missed most of the year with an injury and Mojo has been great. So...no.
