Wow, the Jaguars have surprised me. I stand corrected!

QuoteJag's need to win to get people into the stands and if they are not winning...........duh!!

I used to have the same self-centered belief. If I did not buy seats, then maybe my message would get heard. Forget it, the only message you send with not supporting the team, is that some other city wants your team and the multi-million dollar impact locally. Forget getting better shopping, entertainment, charities take a HUGE nose dive (Jags pump 40+ million a year locally in charities), we need them Jags here.

Forget that its a football team with suspect players and coaches, and buy a seat because you believe in Jacksonville and our future. When you buy a seat, you are investing in the future of Jacksonville. Corny, but true.

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if it means expanding our fan base so we have regional support, as well as reducing the ticket-buying burden on the Jacksonville market.  When it comes down to it, almost all buyers of Jaguar tickets are from Jacksonville and the immediate area.  This year, obviously, ticket sales dropped a lot, but in many previous years the Jaguars could market locally only and sell out or come close to it.

Other small-market teams market regionally out of necessity and we're going to have to follow that model.  It's unsustainable to expect the people of Jacksonville to continue to "overperform" as they did in 1995-2000 and 2004-2008.  Buffalo draws significantly from Rochester and Syracuse as well as Toronto; the Saints draw from all over Louisiana and Mississippi; the Colts draw from the secondary Indiana cities as well as from Louisville.  We need secondary market support to thrive.

as long as it isn't London!

Even one game a year in London wouldn't be a total loss if it meant a reduced local ticket-buying burden.  But if we have to play games in a second locale, obviously Orlando would be preferable.  Ideally, of course, we wouldn't have to relocate any of the games or could just relocate a preseason game.  I know the Dolphins used to play quite a few preseason games in Orlando, the Bucs and Falcons had a few in Jacksonville, etc.

I'm for the London game. I think it will build interest in the team both nationally and abroad and it'll drive down some of the season ticket price next year when Orlando games aren't an option.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

JaxNative68

I think the dedicated season ticket holders should have the option of going . . . a realistic option.

Technically they / we do. Honestly I don't care if they play in Nova Scotia this year if it helps lift some of the overall burden and keep the team in Jax.

do you really think travelling to London for a regular season football game is a realistic option for the average season ticket holder?  cross atlantic plane tickets, hotel room, taking time off of work, the incidental travel expenses, seems a little costly for a regular season football game that may not have much bearing on the playoff picture.  I have not met many season ticket holders willing to shell out that kind of cash for a single game, unless it was the superbowl or the game to get into the super bowl.

I don't know if London games will help us get national attention, though it'd be nice...the Bucs and Dolphins probably did not get much out of it the past couple of years.  Our best hope of getting national attention is to win.  The Jaguars ranked a lot higher in merchandise sales and in the "favorite team" polls in the late 90s and had more prime-time and nationally televised games.  Look at Indianapolis and New Orleans--winning in a small market means the national press has to stop ignoring you.  The good news is, we're building a good foundation for that to happen consistently.

I'm with you, but I do hate the idea of Jaguar fans in Jacksonville missing a home game.  With my being out of market, I can only make about two Jaguar games a year and hate to advocate for playing games out of market because I can't relate to having a home game taken away.  Orlando's a realistic drive and probably offers greater potential for expanding our regional fan footprint (pawprint).

No way will that happen unless Orlando is willing to bend over and give Weaver $$$$$$$$$ in revenue lost for parking, food, as well as the premium seats. The Citrus bowl still has the aluminum seats, as well, correct? I think there is a standard for NFL games and aluminum seats are not it.

Weaver won't have a choice if the NFL demands it.  Besides sharing revenue for one game with Orlando, which could be a sell out, is probably more lucrative than only having 35k show up in Jax for that same game.

why would Orlando sell out?

It's not like they supported the Rays when they played a weekend series there in 2008
