I was merely commenting on my experience with the apartment listing discussed in this thread... not attacking someone else because we disagreed other topics from other threads.

... and they're all listed at the same address, saying otherwise would just be distorting the facts to attack someones credibility.

While I cannot see what any scam might be, other than identity theft, I can attest that those pictures were not taken from inside The Strand or The Penninsula.

Neither I or my friend completed the application / information request that was sent in response. So, I can't tell you what the end result of the 'scam' is... but if anyone else wanted to send personal info i.e; ss # - credit information - banking information I'm sure they would get to the bottom of this.

The photos are awful.  Those apts are nowhere in Jax.  They could at least put a mural of the st johns outside the window.  Not even close to looking like the Strand or Peninsula.  Try again.

I'm a bit slow, bordering on daft in fact, but I believe there is a commentary within this thread pertainig to rascism, percieved racism, and denials of racism.

omarv, I wouldn't trust craigslist for anything.  there are some free Jacksonville Apartment Guides you can pick up just about everywhere;  grocery stores, drugstores, office buildings, and definitely in San Marco - you'll see places onthe sidewalk with all the newspapers side by side.  the ones I've seen are a small paperback book.

I've purchased a car, boat & furniture and sold a car, guitar rig & misc. electronics all on craigslist. The legit ad's far outweigh the scams.

I would just be weary of anything that sounds to good to be true.

A few of those are taken from inside The Strand, namely the most recent postings.

Oh well.. i kind of figured it was a scam or something like that.  :-\

Reednavy, I think you are correct. The most recent photo is of the model/sales unit at the strand.

I looked at a few units, all of which had the same fixture/cabinets/appliances/carpet. This doesn't mean every unit is the same. A couple units would seem to match the layout more or less, but fixtures/cabinets are different.

I'd hate to slander something that was legit. Others, however are clearly not even in Jax.

IIRC, you are apartment hunting. If these prices are within your budget, and you like the Idea of living at The Strand, I think you should contact them directly. Renters are making bargains in an attempt to stay afloat.

I'd bet these prices are attainable at the strand, so long as your looking for a 1 br, and not on the water, which I would not recommend any way.

BTW, I got a lease at a lower price than the website advertises. (web:1799 reality:1500) This was in early 08.

omar, it never hurts to err on the side of caution, and you're being a smart consumer.

Omarvelous09

Well honestly...the thrill is gone. The southbank is a bit too uptight for me, but i do like that most of the units have balconies. As opposed to the glass boxes downtown...oh well. on to the next, thanks guys!  ;)

What about The Villas of St Johns in Riverside next to Publix? They are always running a special at the bottom right corner of their website where they give you two months free. The way they do this is by decreasing the rent for the entire lease. So just going off of their lowest price of 890 a month, it would only be 742 with the discount. Here is their website, that for whatever reason shows up as their IP address http://64.242.64.213/

There are also some great places in San Marco, too;  as quaint or as modern as you wish.  Most of those older apts. on the main drag are as a big as a HOUSE inside.  And, you're just over 95 from Riverside, so you're not that far removed from the artsy district.
