The Jags are still 6-5 people and have a very beatable Texans coming to town this Sunday. I know there will be plenty of empty seats and have come to grips with the fact that Jacksonville doesn't have 65K true Jaguars fans. But for the people that plan on heading out there on Sunday, don't get down on this team yet. They are 6-5 and a win would keep us right in the mix for that wildcard spot. I see the Jags bouncing back and putting on a good show this weekend. GO JAGS!!!!!!!!

Reaper man

so that 6-5.... is that 6 losses to 5 horrible losses? ;p

With 5 games to go, the Jags have more wins than last season.  They are in an obvious rebuilding year, and to be in the playoff hunt is pretty outstanding.  The Jags start and play more rookies than any other team in the league!

Now if only we didn't have so many fair-weather fans!  On the plus side, I think there is a good deal of young fans who have grown up with the Jags, who are just now able to afford tickets on their own.  The Jags will be fine in the future!

NOW LET'S GET A WIN THIS WEEK!!!

Sportmotor

did you see the last game?

It looked like they wanted to all lose their jobs lol

I'm one of those younger generation fans who now own my own season tickets and wouldn't trade my Sundays at JMS with the Jags for anything.  Everything you said above is spot on and if the season ended today we'd be the 6th seed in the playoffs.  Yet there are still ignorant clowns in this City...(see Reaper Man) who will always have something negative to say.  Oh well, I'm sure he's another Steeler transplant.

The Steelers dont have much to crow about at this time either... :)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I never thought I'd get mad at anyone on this forum because I stay out of the political discussions, but seriously, what is your problem?  Every time there's a Jaguar thread you interject some anti-Jaguar comment founded in total ignorance of the team's situation.  There's this bizarre cult of anti-Jaguar reactionary behavior in Jacksonville and there's a real and increasing risk that it's going to run the team out of town, which will spell disaster for the city's public image.  I'm sure your "OMG JAGUARZ MOST TERRIBLE TEEM EVER!!!!111!!" jokes will seem just as cute if that happens.

I think there is an apathetic group of people in most sports towns. I spend time in Tampa and there is a large group of people who treat the Rays the same way even after they made the World Series. Most are transplants from the northeast that have allegiances to the Red Sox, Yankees or Phillies. You try to ignore those types but it is tough sometimes.

Don't let them get your goat!  Or jaguar in this instance.

Sure, apathy is one thing and of course we have transplants.  But he's in literally every Jaguar thread writing some variant on "the team is irredeemably terrible."  I'm just getting frustrated with the self-destruction of the people who have decided they are not Jaguar fans anymore because the team isn't good enough or some mythology about the "Thuguars."

I'm going to the game this weekend.  If we can finish 8-8 I'll be happy. 9-7, I'll be ecstatic. 10-6....... I'd probably pass out.

copperfiend

I think 8-8 is probably realistic. Split the next two, beat Cleveland and lose to Indy and New England. 8-8 is still alot better than most people though. It should give them some momentum going into next year also.

They do need to add a QB early in the draft next year. And not a project like Tebow. Someone who can step in early like Joe Flacco or Ben Roethlisberger did.

Steve

Seriously - this is not the minor league football they play in Gainesville.  The Jaguars don't have any opponents like Appalacian State or Central Michigan on their schedule.  Every team is a Top 25 team - bottom line.  Half of the teams will finish better than 8-8 and half will finish worse than 8-8.  808 for a rebuilding team is excellent, in my opinion.

The gap in the NFL between the best teams and the worst teams is small. I can't stand the people with that college mentality. I have had people come up to me on Monday mornings at work and ask what happened to the Jaguars...after a win. What the hell?

Wacca Pilatka

It's astonishing to me.  I thought Jacksonville would be the most thankful and supportive city in the NFL, or at least in the top tier in that regard, based on the many years' quest for a team and the importance of the team to elevating the city's national image.  I'll defend the city to the death to other outsiders, but the attitudes among those who have the means to go to games and the interest in football, but reject the team as unworthy, blow my mind.
