Anonymity

I honestly have no idea who writes the articles here at Metrojacksonville.com. I'm not dying to know, it just seems an odd thing to be able to say. This site's professionalism, its real life importance, and its connection to a specific locality set it up to be much more than just a blog. But I wonder if its anonymity might hold it back. I think to facilitate its growth, part of the next step would be to include some real names & contact info associated with its content and perhaps an "about" page (stating its purpose and background). The recent addition of the forum provides a channel for anonymous discussion, when needed, that would remain if these changes were made.

A secondary power that a site like this has is to serve as a model for other grassroots collaborations on the internet. Metrojacksonville.com's effectiveness as a model depends on how readily one can find answers to basic questions such as "What's the source of this article?" and "Where did this site come from?" I think it's important to proudly show that this IS a grassroots site and ordinary people are behind it.

We're currently in the process of putting together an "About Us" section, as I speak.  It will be introduced along with a host of new features in the upcoming weeks.

thelakelander,
I'm glad to hear about the updates and look forward to them!

JUSTDAVE,
I apologize for making that assumption without knowing who actually is behind the site. I didn't mean any offense.
