CS...you're starting to sound like a broken record (against Johnny, Daniel Davis, etc.)

Fact is very little public funds have been used...because the toll road hasn't been built yet....and FDOT intends to recoup from the potential private operator what little has already been spent.

The road has already been partially built, yes. Where did the funds come from for the Cecil Interchange at 1-10, which will be part of the toll road? Also, drive down Chaffee between 103rd and Argyle and you will see  signs that say Future Toll road, so the road is already there all the way to Blanding. How did it get built? With ghost money?

The initial portion of the road (from I-10 to Cecil) will remain free.

btw...for those who are generally opposed to tolls and believe that taxes should cover everything, think about this:

Average Miles driven per year = around 15,000
Average MPG for vehicles = around 25
State Gas Tax = $0.18 per gallon
Approximate Annual Revenue = $108

So, we pay less than $10 a month for the ability to drive all over the place....not even water is that cheap!

From Kindlewood Dr south to Blanding Blvd, there will be frontage roads. This will be the current roadway, and the expressway will be built east of the current rd in that section. (look for FDOT fencework that sections it off)

From Kindlewood Dr north, the only way to get to Oakleaf at that point would be to head south to Blanding to get on the expressway. This allows the original Branan Field Rd area to stay "rural" as well as prevent tons of traffic onto Old Jennings between Blanding and Branan Field (where I live).

Even Oakleaf will be segmented off, and only have access @ Argye Blvd (future overpass)

Actually, we ALL pay a lot more for roads, regardless of where we live or how we drive, since the gas tax clearly doesn't pay for all the roads we build and their maintenance.  WE pay it with our PROPERTY taxes and FEDERAL income taxes.  My the time its laundered, no one can easily discern how much we are subsidizing roads creating the urban sprawl that is pushed by politically connected developers.

If the average citizen knew what they paid for sure in real dollars for roads, attitudes toward mass transit would improve significantly.  Perhaps, MJ would like to consider this for an article to add some perspective.
Hey!  Whatever happened to just plain ol' COMMON SENSE!!

Lake, can you convert the pdf link below to a jpg and repost it here?  I think it would be helpful to have this for a reference in this discussion.  It is a revealing map.  Thanks.

tufsu1.........somehow I don't think that I 10 was widened on its own by rain..........the Chaffee Road overpass and ingress and egress did not magically appear out of the clear blue sky just because. Someone paid to have that done and if FDOT was overseeing this, that means my tax dollars at work again!! Yours too by the way,but the workers and the materials used were not "freebies or gratis" someone paid to have that done. If a private enterprise were to take this over, will they be reimbursing FDOT? Is it being sold outright and if so,who is taking the time and the money to buy this? If this is something that FDOT is going to be involved in, how are the tolls going to be selected as to what is charged? Who will monitor traffic and maybe you can fill me in on what will take place if the tolls do not pay for the up keep. I see a hole that money is going to be poured down with no return on the investment and that kinda upsets me!!
