Florida Theater Private screen room

I have seen the private screening room on the top floor of the Florida Theater and I was told that this was used by city leaders to pre-screen movies before they hit the silver screens to make sure they didn't violate community standards.. Or in some cases, certain city leaders would watch dirty movies out of sight of others. Anyone know what the true story is? Or are they both true?
