I got this from my best friend Johnny P. What does an Inspector General do anyways??? Is he anything like Inspector Gadget?? I would keep him then.

Dear Friends:

Last week the Jacksonville City Council Finance Committee voted to eliminate the Office of Inspector General.  Please find the attached letter I sent earlier today to City Council President Richard Clark regarding that decision.

I am disappointed by their action, and hope that you will encourage your council representative to restore this office when the full City Council debates the 2009-2010 budget next month.

Sincerely,

John Peyton

Mayor

To possibilities:

A) City Council is up to no good and desires a more permissive environment.

3) John Peyton has a friend who needs a high paying, cush job.

How does it all time out?

Or. (c), the City Council finance committee is so stupid that it doesn't understand the value of spending a dollar to save a dollar plus.  Cutting out the cost cutters is an increase in expenses, not a decrease.  Duh!
Hey!  Whatever happened to just plain ol' COMMON SENSE!!

What we really need are more Czars (local, state and federal).  ;D

I am nominating myself for the Czar (local-metro) of beer drinking and general levels of bullshite. My wife says that I am am "well" qualified and that she will vote for me  :-*

Current holder of the job of Inspector General is an AMIO (friend of the Mayor) not civil service and reports directly to the Mayor (Fox and Henhouse?) and is not qualified for the job.  She is an accountant, not an auditor and not a fraud investigator and has had no prior experience with investigations.

The Inspector General has not found one, no not one, incidence of fraud or waste in City government since the office was created.  The case that the mayor is trumpeting so loudly was uncovered by an outside, private investigator and turned over to the Mayor's office some time ago.

It's nice to be able take solace in the knowledge that no improprieties have taken place in our city government. ;)

Yep!  And the tooth fairy will leave money under your pillow!  LOL!

Hopefully GWP can push for another term like Bloomberg in NYC.

In fairness "GWP" is much better at whispering sweet nothings than GWB.

I really don't have a take on him, or a vote. I'm SJC.

Ms Markam has no qualifications for anythign other than a good buddy of the Mayor.........I wish I could get a cushy job that requires nothing and gets a 6 figures salary! It must really be nice to be a friend of Johnny........there ain't enought money in the world for me to ki** the little suckers butt! I can't wait for him to leave office..........him and all of his AIMO buddies! That will save the City 12 Million dollars for the 200+ that we pay for now!

Peyton and his fans are idiots. They cut the salaries of all the city workers, added the fat back for the library, but there are no programs for the libraries, let alone books, and we call this progress?

Is it 2011 yet?
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton
