This project appears to be on its way to moving forward:

QuoteNew 'walk' planned under Jacksonville's Fuller Warren Bridge

A building project designed to link Jacksonville’s Riverside Arts Market to the Five Points area surfaced in legislation filed this week in the City Council.

Mayor Alvin Brown is asking the council to allot $4.3 million to work on a sequence of planters, ponds, walkways and parking in land that’s now sitting vacant under the Fuller Warren Bridge.

Im having a hard time visualizing where this is. I know there a land under the fuller warren by baptist, but are we talking about land further down?

^this is on the north side of the river, across Riverside Ave from Riverside Arts Market (RAM).  It will basically connect RAM with Riverside Park.

I can't wait for the dog park to be connected to the Bay Street Riverfront Park across from Maxwell House!
What a great scenic walk with my best pals!
Why is the world full of humans a lot less friendly than we ought to be?

Maybe I'm cheap, but I'm not seeing a lot of bang for buck here. I could stand losing the fountains and looking for a few more ways to trim the cost. $4.3 million seems like a lot to spend for what basically amounts to 3 blocks of pretty sidewalks. We could reallocate some of that money towards other improvements to the river walks.

The money for the riverwalk renovations is already allocated.

I believe most of the money is associated with the cost of moving the stormwater ponds.

The plan is thought out, the money already allocated and the idea a good one in my opinion.  Let's get this done!  :)
