QuoteMr. Autry was the president of the Chamber of Commerce last year, but still, even with Paul Hardin's assistance, could not get the City Council to close Rosselle Street for him against the opposition of the residents of the surrounding neighborhood.

Believe me, this is not over yet. Autry will push this through when there are fewer issues in front of the CC. 300,000, while a lot of money to most of us, is really not to them. His goal is to make them a 3 BILLION dollar company in 10 years. He is quite a businessman!

Yikes!  There is not room in this area for a business that big even if he does succeed in closing Rosselle Street later. (over our bleeding bodies!)  There is also not that much business in North Florida so I hope he plans on having branches in other cities.

While $300,000 might not be much money to him, he was quite disgruntled about it anyway or maybe he was upset that he did not get the Courthouse contract after spending the money.

Miller has projects all over the world. You don't get to use the Billion tag by building Jax alone.

JSO does have golf carts but they are assigned to DT units.  I would be surprised to hear they are in Riverside.  Although JSO Officers carry parking ticket books, parking tickets are not a priority and are normally used for nuisance (parked in ROW, etc.).  Also, Riverside is a different zone than DT and Officers generally don't cross zone lines.  The parking division can enforce any parking ordinance and they do.  They drive cars with similar markings (different color stripe, and the blue shield says "parking" on it) and some specialty vehicles.  I don't know who is in Riverside, I suppose it is possible that it is JSO but I am not aware of any JSO carts operating in Riverside.  But, the parking ticket I got in my driveway was from a JSO CSO, soooo.  Is the parking person a CSO (bright yellow shirt)?  The next time someone sees this cart in Riverside, please check it out and post here.  The shield will say "Police" under the skyline in the shield if it is JSO.

Sorry, I  but I live in riverside at Dellwood and Margaret, and I work from home and see the golf carts frequently in Riverside and 5 points area. I have a pic of one from behind at the corner of Post and Park at the light at Fou Haus if you want to see. I dont know how to post it, but I can email it to you.  The Cart says "POLICE" on the back with a number and an officer driving it with a black shirt.

Wow.  OK, I'll check it out.  Zone 4 is hurting for Officers, I don't know why a sworn Officer would be wasted on this.

It was definitely a JSO officer that was in the golf cart writing tickets on Herschel.  The very same that I've seen in numerous businesses in 5 Pts introducing himself to the owners.  It does seem like a waste of time that someone else could be doing considering after my home was broken into and ransacked it took an officer over an hour to come to my home in the middle of the day.  Needless to say that the City has its priorities a bit askew when revenue producing activities (ie-inconsistently citing incorrectly parked cars) are more important than protecting the public.

Want to see JSO waste, get off I-95 North at Monroe, look to the left at the wonderful JSO horse stables and then tell me why we need mounted JSO on horses?

I've heard of friends who have cars in their garage, under a tarp, and the inspector will go and verify that the car has correct tags, and if not, write people tickets. Not even on the pavement and the inspector is writing tickets.

These days, revenue is hard to come by.

ahh the taxman cometh.. well don't sweat it, just your contribution to the betterment of Jax.  It is true, they will ticket you for parking in the wrong direction.  At least its not as bad as getting a ticket for expired tag in your own driveway!

This is not legal.

Although this began as a rant about parking infractions occurring within the proper jurisdiction, I am happy to announce I called 630-CITY Monday about three properties on my block of Ernest with overgrown lawns (~2 feet).

The next day, Code Enforcement tacked yellow slips to trees in conspicuous places.  All properties since have complied.

That only matters when owners care, take a drive down Phyllis Street and observe the yellow slips and owners that don't give a darn! For these, the City should place liens on the property, and turn them over to JHA and put people in these empty houses.

I look at the rain soaked citation to read "parking facing improper direction"...  How in the hell is this even legal?  Does anyone understand me when I say how infuriated I am right now?

Anyone around here know how to get me out of this?  I'm so mad I can barely even see straight....

It is dangerous because cars rarely have reflective devices on the front of the car.  They do on the back.  It's harder to see a car from the front than the rear when the lights aren't on.  Everyone who deserves a license should know to park with the direction of traffic.  :'(

In any case, I can't help but think that this may be karma for not paying back debts, using bad excuses.  Talk about frustration!!   ;)

I saw the Police Golf Cart in 5 Points today at lunch time, checking out cars parked along Margaret Street near some popular eating places.

Crowd control...let's them move through crowds easily while having an elevated point of view.
