I've always been interested in Yellow Bluff Fort, since i first discovered it at age 14. I've been having a really hard time finding any good information on the park. Does anyone have any local stories or battle information?
This is all i could find on Yellow Bluff Fort.

"Located near the mouth of the St. Johns River, this site was an important military position during the Civil War, allowing access to the inland areas of Florida's east coast. There was never an actual fort on Yellow Bluff, but an encampment that was fortified and equipped with large guns for protection. Constructed in 1862, the site was occupied by both Confederate and Union troops during the Civil War and-at its peak-housed over 250 soldiers. The site has a T-shaped earthworks and covers about 1.3 acres. Located on Yellow Bluff peninsula on the north side of the St. Johns River (on New Berlin Road). http://www.floridastateparks.org/yellowbluff/default.cfm"

Jacksonville's Architectural Heritage contains some additional information.  If you don't have a copy, let me know and I'll transcribe the Yellow Bluff section for you.

I am sure Ock knows much, much more about it than is provided in J.A.H., though.
The tourist would realize at once that he had struck the Land of Flowers - the City Beautiful!
