Man fathers 21 children by 11 different women... and he's only 29

A man aged 29 has fathered 21 children with 11 different women, it emerged yesterday.

Desmond Hatchett's brood came to light after authorities in Tennessee in the U.S. took him to court for non-payment of child support.

He has apparently set a U.S. record but said: 'It just happened.'

He added that he would not have any more children. 'I'm done. I'll say I'm done,' he said.

Hatchett, who earns a minimal wage, told TV reporters he knows the names and ages of all his offspring.

Their ages range from newborn to 11 years old.

Authorities in Knoxville said they plan to take half of his monthly salary to pay for the youngsters but officials said that would work out to just over £1 a week for each.

His lawyer Keith Pope said: 'The children can't all be supported by Desmond, so the state of Tennessee has had to step in.'

Many Knoxville residents called for him to be castrated.

He even boasted of fathering four children by different women in the same year.

Hatchett's name appeared on court documents 11 times representing 15 of his 21  children.

U.S. authorities are now braced for more women coming forward to claim Hatchett is the father of their children after he appeared on local TV.

He said the women he was involved with all knew he had other children.

One mother, who has two children with Hatchett, said she should get £44 a month but rarely receives any child support.

'It's frustrating, but usually, when I ask he gives it to me,' she said.

Authorities in Knoxville ordered Hatchett to court  to explain how he intends to pay child support.

He arrived for the hearing with just over £300.

If I understand it correctly he's not with any of the mothers so he can't list any of the children as dependents. And if he owes child support his Federal Refund would automatically go for child support.

Do you think that anyone involved in this story (whether father, mothers, or children) have, or ever will, pay income tax in their lives? I'm skeptical, at best.

he's just the tip of the iceberg.  go into any child support enforcement court across the US and you'll basically hear the same thing.  there was a movie that came out a number of years ago called Idiocracy and while it was stupid, the premise is pretty relevant.  I'm afraid that the working taxpayers are basically F****D!  The numbers are only growing, there's no stopping it now.

Maybe someone could explain how women, as well, can fall into these situations?  They have at least equal responsibility for having children with no plan on how to successfully raise them.  The days of counting on guys to bear the full burden have long past.  It's 50/50, i.e. it takes two to tango, especially in these times of readily available education and supplies for birth control.  This guy is scum but he had partners in the crimes.  My bet is the women have kids from other partners as well.  My sympathies to the children and we, the taxpayers.

Maybe we should learn from China where they limit families to just one kid.  Not sure how they enforce it, but it seems to be working.  I believe they use economic coercion.  We seem to have the opposite situation.

One of the local news stations, CBS47,did a story on a women out of St. Augustine this week, who has 3 kids, and lives in a house, renting, that is falling in on itself. She is months behind on rent, and now risks eviction, all because the deadbeat scumbag father owes 115,000 in child support. He moved to GA, has an unlisted number and gets paid in cash each week.

Dads who move away and don't pay for their kids, are gum on the soles of my shoes. They do not deserve to breathe my air.

those women would be eligible for EIC, food stamp and public housing. Some young girls just want to get pregnant so they can get the government benefits. They do not care about the "quality of the sperm" or care about their offspring.

What about the women? Why the men are stuck paying child support...i think the practice is outdate in some cases. It takes 2 too tango....women are just as guilty for these babies as the men are. There are so many of these women who have these babies that are on gov't assistance (HUD, TANIF, EBT, ETC.....and receive child support) Hell, most of them have more of a disposable income then many of us!
