Nice to see downtown goings-on actually being reported, minus the bridge repainting nonsense and minus the fact that it's not a headline:

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- With several big events Friday night, the Sports Complex area will be hopping again.

World of Nations will be in full swing at Metropolitan Park. The movie, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, begins at 8 p.m. and is expected to draw big crowds.

The Jacksonville Suns are playing at the Baseball Grounds Friday night against the Mobile Bay Bears. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

And, country music star Taylor Swift is in concert at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The sold out show begins at 7:30 p.m.

Sgt. Leonard Propper with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office told First Coast News that the Hart Bridge will stay open an hour longer to allow traffic to flow into the Sports Complex area better. However, the bridge will still close Friday night for the repainting project. The new time for the weekend closure is 8 p.m.

Traffic leaving the Sports Complex area after the venues close will have to use the Mathews, Main Street or Acosta Bridges.

Busy weekend indeed!

They can't stall the repainting for one night?

You'd think.  But that'd make too much sense, and offer an option for the exodus-traffic-pattern out of downtown after all the events were over.  Bottlenecks are preferred! :D

Let's not forget the Jags minicamp this weekend.  Fridays day practice is open to the public as well as both Saturday practices (11 & 4).  Good weekend indeed.
