I have always been curious about what that church looks like inside.  I look forward to finding out in May.

I think this will go over so well, they may make downtown the permanent venue. Doing so would be a win for everyone.

That makes two of us. Every time I go eat at NOLA, I stare at the beauty of that building and wonder what it's like inside.

FWIW, Stephen...that would be most INCREDIBLE location for a recreation of Boomtown's restaurant/performance theatre. Think the old Limelight in NYC, but more intimate and with performance art. Who owns it?

Like many others, this church was built to replace one that burned during the Great Fire of 1901.  Today, it sits in a state of disrepair under the ownership of the City of Jacksonville.  Hopefully, it will stand the test of time and be sold to the private sector for renovation before it falls in on itself.

In September 2006, through several emails and publicly exposing the subject, Metro Jacksonville prevents City Hall from simply giving away the historic church building to the Police & Fire Pension Fund.

This is one of our accomplishments that may have been better off as a failure.  I believe, the Fund would have done something with it by now.  With the city in control, it may fall in on itself before something positive happens with it.

As stupid as it sounds, I'm inclined to agree.  Who would have thought giving away (for free) a great old church in a prime location would have been the better alternative

Last time I was inside, there was no AC, so prepare yourselves if you venture inside without AC for the jazz festival. City might as well build tents on the parking lots in front the Prime Osborn and have the party there.
