Both Vespa stores have closed also. San Marco and the Beaches.

I guess they were counting on people keeping their jobs and/or gas prices hovering around 4 bucks a gallon.

There was a scooter place at Lakeshore and Normandy that closed a few weeks ago. Man, lower gas prices must really make you realize how much you don't want to ride a scooter.

Maybe a large spread out city with 90% of roads highways isn't good for scooter business.

I think the real problem was these guys were betting on $4 gas. I believe it's going up from here, but I don't think that high. At the rate we were going, a loaf of bread was going to cost $15, becuase it would have cost the bread company 13 to ship it.

Check out Jax E-Bikes in Riverside at the corner of College and Stockton. They have all electric bikes and scooters of all different types. Very reasonable prices too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your commute is under two miles. Unfortunately in the sprawling mess that we live in, you are in the minority. I have a very short commute, and mine is 6 miles.

There's about 3 or 4 scooter shops out at the beach. I also see a lot of people riding scooters on A1A. Except for butler, there's no road at the beach over 35 so a scooter is perfect for the beach

the place in san marco was there for a while even before $4 gas prices.
