Each month, the "Leave 'em Laughing Tent" -- Jacksonville's chapter of The International Laurel & Hardy Appreciation Society (a/k/a Sons of the Desert) -- meets to indulge in free light snacks and sodas, and to enjoy the comic genius of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

The theme of our January meeting is "Guest-Starring Laurel & Hardy" -- other comedians' movies where L&H made guest appearances. The evening will begin with the Popeye cartoon "Putting' on the Act" (1938). This will be followed by the short subjects "Call of the Cuckoos" (1927, silent), "The Stolen Jools" (1931), "On the Loose" (1931), and "On the Wrong Trek" (1936), and clips from the feature films "Hollywood Party" (1934) and "Pick a Star" (1937).

The meeting will be held on Mon., Jan. 12, 2009, at the Pablo Creek Branch Library, 13295 Beach Blvd. (between Kernan and Hodges Blvds.) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free to all ages.
