Ok people this is really simple. If you dont want to get sot by the police, dont commit a crime with a gun. I am sick and tired of hearing about these poor people who get sot by police after they have just robbed a store or carjacked someone. Every life has meaning but you have to obey the laws, If you dont want to be the victim of a police shooting, dont rob, kill, or carjack someone. The majority of murders and violent crime in this city occur in the black community, but it isnt just a black problem. It affects all of us because we all live here and we all want this to be a safe place for everyone. The NAACP does nothing at all to help anyone, especially the African American community. All they do is provide lip service and stir up racial divides. This issue isnt about race or poverty, it is about keeping everyone safe. There argument that the JSO is somehow racially motivated group is lame. The majority of people who get shot by police are black because the majority of violent crimes are commited by black people in this city. Based on their argument I can go rob a bank, carjack someone, do a drive by or just live in complete lawlessness because I am white. Come on people, lets stop the whole Black vs. white argument. This is about crime and how to keep all of ou citizens safe. We should all be together on this issue. Pointing the finger and blaming someone else will not solve the problem. Joining forces will. Lets all work together to take our city back.

I have issue with this entire scenario....and find it shameful that the NAACP is making this into a racial issue, when it's really about thugs carrying and using guns in the commission of a crime. It's not like the police are wandering around looking for blacks to gun down...these thugs were involved in criminal acts, they were armed and the officers (as with any of us) have the right to protect themselves.

If the NAACP was really concerned, then perhaps they need to focus on why these thugs have guns and why they are committing crimes against society...and work on making that issue stop. No, instead they want to make it seem that the police are out to kill blacks...and that's simply not the case.

By looking into the situation of the police involved shooting, I have noticed that the person being shot was criminal committing a crime not a citizen by-stander. I also noticed that the said criminal being shot always had a gun or was appeared to have a gun. What would I do when there is an armed criminal, a crime in action? It is a stretch for the NAACP to call those people shot by police "victim". The citizens terrorized by the criminals are the real victims. Has NAACP talked to the people victimized by the criminals? Has NAACP talk to the families of the police officers whose sacrifice their lives in line of duty?

Outside review is just an other world for second guessing. NAACP needs to do something real for the neighborhood instead of stir up racial divide for personal political gain of certain people. NAACP needs new leadership.

As with many of these old organizations and laws, their usefulness is waning. There was most certainly a time and place for this group, and it wasn't all that long ago. Most of us here on the board can relate at least five stories of racial discrimination or profiling that caused the death of an innocent person of color. In this day and age of terrorism I would say any "brown skinned" person would be at more risk of being hurt/charged/profiled/killed than a black person. I travel with many Indians and without fail brwon skinned mails with names that are not "Smith" Williams" or "Gordon" get the triple S and go through extra security. My "white" co-workers are leary about getting in a cab with "Mohhamud", but have no problem riding with "Downtown Brown". Rarely do you see any type of Indian or middle eastern group throwing out racially charged statements such as this. With the patriot act a person can be held with no rights for as long as the government wants, and Gitmo is full of them....all brown skinned, not black. Maybe the "color" in NAACP doesn't stand for all colors, which in and of it's self is racist. It is certainly time fo the NAACP to either go or make serious changes to answer the issues of our times, this is not the 1950's, 60's, or 70's anymore.
