As reported in today's Detroit News, Jacksonville missed out on an opportunity to win a major financial firm.  The firm (World Alliance Financial Corp) received help from the state of Michigan.  Here are the details...

i'm not sure if this was a good or bad thing?  more call center jobs?  but then again, the data center jobs could have been nice to have.  heck, 350 jobs i guess (like up on the north or westside) would've been ok.

Per Blueprint for Prosperty, JCCI's Town & Gown study and Richard Florida's Creative Class books, Jax needs jobs that require higher educational/income levels to become competitive in the nation and globally.

Thanks, JEDC, for not incentivizing a call center -- use those incentive funds to woo the movie industry (Wilmington, NC, anyone?) or some other knowledge worker business to come to Jacksonville!!!

This is good news. We cannot complain about the city giving incentives for distribution centers and then get upset we didn't get a call center.

Not having seen the particulars and not having done any due diligence, this organization does not sound like one that is going to take us to the new level we want for Jacksonville and the surrounding area. How long before they would have moved to India? Even American Express uses Indian services.
