I think it would be cool if the forum had another photo update on current construction. Some of our out-of-town folks might be pleasantly surprised. I can snag some photos soon and post if there isn't already one in the pipeline.

Thanks. Cranes, cranes, cranes, and more cranes; haven't see that since many minutes.

Have you been east of Hogan's Creek?  At one point there were 3 tower cranes for Four Seasons and the office building, plus 6 more cranes at the stadium....

I want to see Cranes for Gateway N8 (Mixed Use Development/Hotel), cranes for Gateway N6 (Publix/Mixed Use Development), Cranes for Laura Street Trio, Cranes for the new skyscraper on the east pad at Riverfront Plaza (Gateway), Cranes for Related Group Development Tower on Southbank, Cranes for the Fleet Landing Senior Residential Tower. The cranes for the Four Seasons and the Stadium is Khan's cranes; but IMO when we see cranes in the Urban Core, North and Southbank, IMO THAT'S progress!

Wow.  That's some blatant crane-discrimination. #AllCranesMatter.

In regards to Gateway/Pearl Street, It appears that N6, N7, and N8 will all be rising at the same time, with CRANES in the air for each. N6 will be the shortest and will top out first, followed by N7, and then N8. Man, all of this activity is making me dizzy and giving me a headache; where's the smelling sauce? Still not tall enough though; that's coming and will be revealed very soon right on the riverfront; think I'm joking? Watch! And no, I don't have proof; just got that feeling. I smell "tall and slender" in the air, rivaling Independent Square building, and standing tall with #1 (BOA) and of course #2 Independent Square. It's a little way off, but not too far away. Just stand by and have the faith.

I wish they would add more height for n6 maybe add residential on top of it and n10 would have twin towers and not 7 to 10 story buildings also maybe a tower next to ambassador and some towers next to the rosa parks station give us more height like Tampa's water street. Also wish n7 would have had twin towers on that site like they did  for tampa's publix.

Don't want to take away from this thread because it's something I deeply care about -the success of DT. Im invested in it - I live fairly close 15 min bike ride and work DT.

I hate talking politics, party affiliation I can care less. What I do care about is the message, and I think Ron is gaining a lot of followers and I fear that he will undo all the great work that's in there process of turning this city around. His message is to take Jacksonville back to the ice age!

Forget our current trajectory under his leadership. No draft or Super Bowl in the foreseeable future.

I believe you're confusing Block N6 with one of the other projects. N6 is the parking garage between Julia and Hogan Street and will not need a crane as they are simply adding a strip of retail along Beaver Street

Ron Armstrong

Probably worth a separate thread if we're talking mayoral elections. He's doing very well as a relative nobody with the, "I'm just asking questions..." gambit but if he gains real traction, he'll have to prove he has a real agenda and real leadership capability versus just being contrarian. Otherwise he's more of a Rory Diamond figure.

Relevant to this thread, it's clear he's against downtown incentives and the not-so-subtle suggestion is that our citywide infrastructure is crumbling and needs to be maintained and fixed before we do ANYTHING new ANYWHERE. While there's an element of truth to that, to suggest we can't fix what's neglected while also pursuing growth is nonsense. In fact Deegan has done a great job, with boring stuff like city mowing crews keeping right-of-ways far more maintained, all while negotiating big-ticket downtown items. And I'm not even a Democrat.

^ If Salem & Co. really wanted to address "crumbling citywide infrastructure" they would stop cutting back the millage rate.  All they really want is votes for lowering taxes - service levels and City investment be damned.  many of the people who support their campaigns live in Nassau, St. Johns, Clay or elsewhere and could care less about Duval infrastructure.  What they do care about is riding on the back of Duval taxpayers to enrich their businesses and personal pocketbooks.

Who mostly pays for the stadium, arena, baseball grounds, airport, riverfront parks and other regional amenities vs. who benefits from them?  Would be interesting to see where the developers who get City incentives live.  In Duval or elsewhere?  They fund campaigns to get Duval benefits but don't hang around for the consequences.

We should maybe have a policy that City benefits first go to those who live in Duval.  Just like beach communities giving free access to their beaches to their residents and charging everyone else.
