JWB has purchased the remainder of the block adjacent to the Main Street Pocket Park from the Salvation Army

The buyer is 800 Monroe LLC, the limited liability company through which JWB previously bought property in LaVilla for $2.5 million.

The three parcels include the Salvation Army's 24,900-square-foot two-story facility at 328 N. Ocean St., a 12,000-square-foot parking lot at 39 E. Monroe St and a vacant 5,000 square-foot property west of the Salvation Army building at 0 Duval St.

I remember saying that block with the ones north and south of it would be a really interesting urban campus idea if UF or someone else was interested in going more mid-rise than low-slung. Don't expect that to actually happen here but I am curious if they can work out something interesting. Should be a prime location if they can make it nice.
So, to the young people fighting in this movement for change, here is my charge: march in the streets, protest, run for school committee or city council or the state legislature. And win. - Ed Markey
