Can't open article; says I have a 'blocker' and wants subscription.  Shame that all the homeless downtown will be short accommodations for the horribly cold weather heading for all of us.  That is a sizeable hole, allright.  If the Salvation Army is the one moving to the northside near a golf course,  they should be ashamed.  It shows how "concerned" they are for the homeless downtown.  What are the new owners going to do with it - again, I can't get into the article to read it.

The article doesn't answer any of those questions.
An excerpt that (hopefully) does not violate any rules:
Quote
The Salvation Army is selling two downtown properties for $2.75 million.

(paragraph about purchaser - 27182 Euler LLC, which is registered under Contega Business Services.)
(paragraph about the existing buildings)

The organization is selling the Salvation Army Community Center at 15 E. Church St. and the former Paulus Music building on 41 E. Duval St.

The organization is based downtown at 328 N. Ocean St.

The agency building a new center in the Brentwood area is the Sulzbacher Center.
Quote
The Jacksonville City Council in June 28 [2022] signed off on a rezoning request for the proposed $46 million Sulzbacher Enterprise Village campus in Northwest Jacksonville.

The project will complete the housing and social service provider's relocation out of Downtown.

The nonprofit Sulzbacher, which serves people experiencing homelessness, says when the new campus is complete in two to three years it will offer social services, health care, job training and on-site job placement for residents.

Council voted 18-0 to approve rezoning of 16.88 acres on Walgreen Road, west of Interstate 95 and east of Brentwood Golf Course.

Thank you, CH for the information.  Now it appears that 2 of the 3 shelters and services the homeless have downtown are bailing on them.

A. I don't believe the buildings they're selling offer housing/shelter. That's at 900 West Adams, which isn't being sold.

B. Homeless people downtown can instead be homeless people on the Northside, Southside, etc. Nothing to be ashamed about.

C. Sulzbacher is opening the facility (apartments mostly, not shelter) on the Northside, not the Salvation Army.

D. Paying for news information is normal. Don't beg for scraps.

Trinity Rescue Mission, City Rescue Mission, Salvation Army & Clara White are all located in Downtown. The only one with plans to move, as yet, is Sulzbacher. But hopefully that will change.... concentrating the regions poverty, mental illness & substance abuse in one small area isn't a positive for anyone.
