^ What would you replace them with?  Alpha addresses?  As I understand it, web site and email addresses are just alpha overlays over numeric addresses since words are easier to remember than long strings of numbers.

What would be good, maybe, is to use web or email addresses as primary contact addresses and when you reach out to them you select voice/phone, text or email/web access to connect.  One address for all purposes .  Big thing is to add a full alpha-numeric key pad to traditional phones.

Exactly. Voice, video, text to email addresses. Log in to any device you want to use and have as many as you want. No need to convert old phones as they can just be thrown in the garbage.

Every single reason for the establishment of area codes and local exchanges is irrelevant today. It's just done this way because of the technical limitations from 1947.

Fun fact: All of Florida was originally assigned 305.

It's irrelevant with the technology available today, but that doesn't mean it's all implemented. There's still a decent percentage of homes and business that use traditional analog phones.

Also....if you want to REALLY go down the Google drain on a search, look up the revolt the Marble Hill neighborhood of Manhattan had when NYC split the outer boroughs into 718 and Marble hill went to 718 despite legally being in Manhattan.
