So I'm making mental notes on how much harder the puzzles have gotten since the Times acquisition. 2 things.

• Some of the words are harder for not being in use in most people's everyday lives. Perhaps its inevitable given trying to find different 5-letter words every day. And in other word generator games like this I've seen some really messed up entries (when was the last time anyone has used the word QUOTH in a sentence)
• The simple word answers I've seen lately have a lot more possible combinations. I know there was one Wordle weeks ago that I had 4 letters but it could have been 5 different words. Keep in mind the NY Time Games site is the originator of The Spelling Bee (using 7 letters come up with as many words possible and they all have to have one specially selected letter). It wouldn't surprise if the took out an Excel spreadheet of old Spelling Bee games to come up with some mind boggling doozies for Wordle

Learning that the most unlikely word is the likely word of the day .  When given a choice, always go for the more unusual or lesser used word.  Repeating, too, almost all words have medium to higher value Scrabble letters embedded in them.
