QuoteDevelopment partners Andy Allen and Elias Hionides have faced starts and stops since 2018 in their effort to renovate the historic Jones Bros. Furniture Co. building Downtown.

Allen said Sept. 28 the developers intend to submit their latest plan to the city by year-end.

The plan includes 100 apartments and a new six- to seven-story building.

It also has 10,000 square feet of commercial space and a parking deck.

"We've been working on it for over three years," Allen said.

That part of downtown is going to be drastically different if these developments all come to fruition.

I think I recall that part of the city's historical approval based on restoring the "Jones Bros Furniture" sign on the south face of the building. A "new six or seven-story" tower replacing Farah's deli (what was there before?) will block views of the sign.  Am I misremembering?

But, that aside, it sounds like an exciting addition to what appears to be a booming area.

Theres a sneaky amount of new construction going on there too above and beyond the renovations of older buildings. That's now Jones Bros, Porter House, Central National Bank and Ashley & Hogan projects all proposing new builds in addition to the existing restorations IIRC

I agree; there might be more going on in that area than down at the River Front; at least for a while.

Unfortunately, I refuse to believe he wasn't part of the JEA sale scheme.  Seems like everything else he has done has been good work.
