Orlando: Sidewalk cafés won’t have to close, but permit enforcement coming

Everything isn't peaches and cream in Downtown Orlando either. Officials are trying to find solutions to reduce downtown violence.

Sidewalk cafés in downtown Orlando won't have to close by 10 p.m., after early shuttering was under consideration to combat nighttime violence.

But those cafés will need permits to operate, and code enforcement is expected to ramp up monitoring restaurants that operate on the public right-of-way this summer, said Thomas Chatmon, the director of the Downtown Development Board.
