Genpact to lay off 489 workers in Jacksonville

Genpact Ltd., a New York-based professional services firm, filed a notice with state officials saying it expects to permanently lay off 489 Jacksonville employees Aug. 31.

The company said in a May 14 letter filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act that the layoff is occurring because of "material business changes to one of the company's clients" but did not give further details.
