Yup..... The end of that game saw some pretty poor ("strange") clock management by both coaches....
But shoes be damned, one team executed the long kick and one team did not.

Well it's been a horrible year for my Noles but yesterday and the victory against UNC were bright spots. But UNC?  I mean the beat down they put on the Miami Hurricanes yesterday was legendary. LAKE!!???  Are you still sleepin in?  I know, a mere bump on the road back to greatness, right.  Dude, how do you explain that game? Over 500 yards rushing for UNC?    The Noles are terrible, but they sort of got an excuse... But the Canes? At home? In front of their crowd?  That was sad.
No excuses. My canes weren't prepared to play. No effort was shown on the defensive side of the ball.

I think Noles fans should not talk smack to anyone for a long long time.

Wait...these universities are playing football games in front of live crowds in the midst of a pandemic? Seems a bit risky - particularly given that FL  appears to be seeing an uptick in cases.

From what I've seen it's socially distanced, very small crowds.

Even the Jacksonville Symphony is performing concerts; musicians and attendees are 6 feet apart and wear masks...

Describing the game is not talking smack. By the way, nice 'shoe toss' there in Hogtown (now that's talking smack).  LOL

That's not social distancing, though, is it? Social distancing is not having people gather unnecessarily. That's why FL is in such a bad spot these days - people think throwing on a mask and attempting to stand a few feet from each other is going to stop the spread of the virus.

FL isn't the only place that is doing this sort of thing, of course. It boggles the mind, really. But I guess people really feel they "need" their football.

Social distancing, also called "physical distancing," means keeping a safe space between yourself and other people who are not from your household. To practice social or physical distancing, stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms' length) from other people who are not from your household in both indoor and outdoor spaces.'

I guess that explains why the US is such a basket case. The WHO includes staying at home as much as possible:

The bottom line is that the virus spreads for more than six feet and large gatherings are believed to increase the chances of infection. Add situations where people are yelling, cheering, singing or whatever and add alcohol to the mix and you're asking for trouble.

But some people think football is a matter of life or death (not sure what the opinion is on the Nutcracker).

Our concerts are not football games. We have eliminated intermission. Start and end, then leave the Hall. Pretty much every ticket available
(reduced from 1800 to 600) has sold. No mask, no entrance.  You should come to a concert to see for yourself.

You can look to the WH which held completely unrestricted/unmasked 'parties' on national TV if your looking for an explanation.

I don't think I've attended a Jax Symphony concert since I was in school. Maybe I'll try to take one in next time I'm in Jax - assuming this pandemic ever ends.

Serious question - do you do any choral works and, if so, do the singers wear masks? Just curious - would seem prudent from a medical perspective but not from a musical one.

Don't you live in the UK? Do you regularly attend concerts there?

Also here at Symphony Hall, no food or drinks being offered.

We've not really had concerts here since March. But no, I don't tend to go to many concerts anymore - certainly not since having kids. I think the last orchestral thing I attended was the Proms back in 2012 or so.

I take my kids a lot, especially the "Symphonic Night at the Movies" series , although they like many different styles.

It's more an issue of getting them to behave. My seven year old *might* just now be able to sit through a performance, but he shows no interest in music and I think he wouldn't enjoy it at all. My three year old seems to like music, but he's too young to sit quietly for more than a few minutes.

I have been quite concerned with the virus and how communities are addressing safety. I am very disappointed that Gov. DeSantis seems unwilling to consider re-implementing any restrictions (say 50% at bars/restaurants).

That said, I attended 3 FSU home games this year, and they were generally quite safe. I was a bit concerned during the first game as they weren't enforcing mask-wearing in the stands - but the message got through to folks for the other games. Compliance was probably 90% in the concourses & restrooms, and 75-80% in the stands. Also distancing meant seating groups were kept 6' apart.
