The OC probably shouldn't have called a pass play but just because it's a pass play doesn't mean you throw a grapefruit to a WR that's not open. Overall, Franks looked worse than Williams out there considering all the press he's been given off season.

Yawn. Either UM should be actually ranked or UF is overrated. Couldn't cover even with 11 sacks. As a UM fan, the redshirt freshman QB looks fine but that OL is horrible.  Get that together and they'll go on a run considering their schedule. As for UF, Franks will need to get it together or he's going to cost them against better teams. Couldn't believe he made those throws in the 4th that gave UM a chance to pull it out in the end.

It's the first game of the year and a rivalry game at that. It was sloppy play by both teams, which is to be expected when you don't open up against a cupcake. Miami's o-line is also starting two true freshmen offensive tackles against a seasoned and extremely talented UF defensive line, what did you really expect there? My point is, it's easy to over analyze a game like this as there was literally no other game on. So to say UF is overrated or Miami is underrated is a little premature. Let the season play out.

Yes the first game of the season is generally sloppy every year for every team. Nevertheless, there is definitely not an #8 vs unranked difference in the level of talent between these teams. So there's some hype or underrated value at play with the preseason rankings. Like you say, we'll see which way that goes as the season plays out.

I definitely expected OL troubles with Miami. That's been a theme for at least five years now. I also expected UM's defense to play well. Luckily for the OL, outside of FSU, that's the best defensive line they'll face all season. They'll likely look completely different with two weeks to prepare for NC.

I'm pretty confident they'll both end up with a couple of losses by the end of the season. I don't think its premature to come to that conclusion. Nevertheless, I'll enjoy the ride.

Williams is an exciting kid to watch.  I was thinking during the game, wouldn't the Gators be lucky to have a QB like him?  Lots of upside there.

That's dumb.  The storm will still be like 4 day away on Saturday.

not really. The state is trying to make sure that I-95 is clear for evacuees and pre-placement of utility trucks and other responders

Meh.  Do you really think moving this game 3-4 days in advance of a landfall 250 miles south is going to make an impact on hurricane preparedness?  Seems like an excuse to get a homefield advantage more than anything.

I don't blame them for this. Hindsight is 20/20 and at the time they made the call it wasn't clear landfall would be so late next week. 90k extra people on the road right in the city where I-10 and I-95 meet would certainly have caused a logistics issue, especially if the storm arrived this weekend as looked possible based on the predictions of the last few days.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Lol, it ain't 1993 and Charlie Ward isn't standing behind the center. The free shoe giveaways stopped a long time ago and even Publix makes you pay for their crab legs now. No one is afraid to play in Doak. Certainly not Mr. Buster Bronco!

So lets make those people drive to Tallahassee and back on I-10/I-75 instead?  How is that better?  Boise State's team trucks were parked at the TUPAC yesterday, so I assume their team was at the Omni.  Now today they have to hit the road for tally?  Seems like a big mess.

Look...  FSU needs all of the advantage they can get, as this stunt proves!  I'd be pissed if I was a Boise State fan.  Now they have to fly here, rent a car, and drive to that cesspool in the armpit of the state.  All while adding extra congestion to the interestates that people are trying to evacuate on.  Shame on FSU.

Jax was already FSU's "home game" in a 1 for 1 series. And no, FSU did not want to move the game at all. Governor Desantis forced it.

Stay classy...

^How are you all holding up down there in Palm Beach? Any concerns about Lake Okeechobee?

My house is concrete block with heavy duty hurricane shutters and is on the local hospital's power grid, so should be fine on that front. Flooding is the big concern though. We've had a lot of rain recently, so the ground is already saturated and king tide's are expected. I'm nowhere near flood zones, but you never know.

Okeechobee flooding would likely affect Pahokee/Belle Glade/South Bay and the farms around the lake, as well as Stuart and Ft. Myers, which have canals that run into the lake. They started doing lake releases earlier this year to keep the water down during rainy season, so the lake is actually below historical averages right now, but with some of the rain predicted, things could get bad quickly.

I manage the building, planning, and code enforcement departments for a municipality here, so as you can imagine things have been hectic. We are expecting a lot of damage here, but all depends on where it hits.

Hope this doesn't become another Irma for Jax.
