Who needs a downtown aquarium? Huge maintenance costs, bad publicity when your orca/whale shark/penguins die? Much better to have an attraction that can bring over 2 million visitors to see dead insects. Yes, an insectarium! "The insectarium has since become a huge visitor attraction. In 2017 the Montreal Space for Life network, which includes the insectarium, biodome, planetarium and botanical garden, saw a record 2.2 million visitors." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-48853054  ;D

I would tend to agree with you. That and the battleship idea both just seem like copycat ideas from Charleston, which is only a short 4 hours away. An aquarium makes a lot more sense within the existing (and attractive) zoo we already have.

While a 4 hour drive, one-way, is "short" to a select few folks such as yourself, most tourists won't drive more than 2 hours.
