Could protected bike lanes finally be coming to downtown Jacksonville? Yes, and Hogan Street is ground zero for this much-needed infrastructure and placemaking improvement.

This would be great, particularly as it connects to part of the emerald necklace trail. Why are good ideas finally being taken seriously in Jacksonville?  ;D

Option 2 reminds me a lot of the streets in Paris, in a good way.  Personally, I think the biggest problem with Hogan street is the looming skyway tracks, though I could see them providing some decent shade in the summer.  Either way that stretch under the tracks is a dump compared to Laura one block over.

Fantastic piece.

Hogan is so underutilized, this is a great plan.

Talk is cheap, but fortunately so is the implementation of a separated bike lane on Hogan Street. If you are interested in supporting the effort to add a protected bike lane downtown and transforming Hogan Street into a bustling corridor, there will be a public meeting held on the topic on Monday April 9th from 6-7:30pm at the Ed Ball Building (214 N. Hogan St, Training Room #110).

I kind of love the looming Skyway tracks overhead.

Gives Hogan character.

Would love to see all that parallel parking removed and the area under the tracks turned into lowline-ish urban greenspace.

Perfect way to beat the heat in the summer.
