CSX targets 6,200 more job cuts

After cutting 4,600 jobs last year (including consultant positions), CSX Corp. is targeting an additional 6,200 job cuts over the next three years, reducing total employment to 21,000 by the end of 2020.

"We will achieve this principally through attrition," Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Mark Wallace said Thursday at the company's investor and analyst conference in New York.

In New Media's annual report, it said the Times-Union's daily circulation is 40,555 and Sunday circulation is 59,275.

That's down from 44,750 daily and 68,591 Sunday, which New Media reported when it agreed to the deal in August.

In June 2016, the publisher said daily circulation was 70,000.

Wow. Went to the link and read that Hunter Harrison had died in December. Was that mentioned anywhere on MJ?  I did not see it.

Another 6200 jobs eliminated. Can they provide the same customer service and scheduling with 10,000 fewer employees?
