Hourglass vs Myth

I have had recommendations from two very different people that I have been acquainted with in the slightly over a year I have lived in Jacksonville to visit myth nightclub and the hourglass tavern. (Both on Bay Street, I believe) Could someone who truly knows what the bleep they are talking about (a real deal local who has spent a fair amount of time here maybe) give me the lowdown on these two places and explain both their attributes and potential drawbacks before I waste money on a dissapointment evening?
