Urban Construction Update - August 2017

Had to skip September. I'm like Project Maximus right now. I'm working full time in Orlando for a few months and splitting time between there and Jax. The one Saturday marked for the construction update ended being rained out.

What corner? The Lofts of Monroe will be built on the empty block bounded by Adams, Davis, Monroe and Lee streets.

Yes, according to today's Jax Daily Record, their permit to start was recently approved. So another decent sized multifamily project is now under construction.

Speaking of Atlantic North, MedExpress is building a standalone urgent care center there at the corner of Atlantic and Kernan. No timeline has been given for its construction or opening, but CCS Construction has the contract for the $750,000, 4,564-square-foot building.

MedExpress already has one location under construction at 7720 Merrill Road, where an Arthur Murray Dance Studio once stood. That will open Aug. 23. The company is planning a third Jacksonville location downtown, but has not released that address.

All clinics will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week and offer a variety of urgent care, employer health, basic wellness and prevention services.

They employ about 20 people at each location.

Atlantic North is anchored by Belk, Earth Fare, Academy Sports + Outdoors and L.A. Fitness.
