So has anyone ever gone to swing night over at Murray Hill Theater? I know they have one tonight with a DJ so I was wondering if it was worth the drive.

I havent been but I do have a couple of friends who are knee-deep in swing and would tell you to put your dancing shoes on and be there. Though, i suspect its actually just a small, close-knit group of fanatics that will be there.

I went about a year ago. They had a hundred or so people. They teach you some swing moves and also do some group dancing. I grew up going to Murray Hill Theatre every weekend but never went to Swing Night. It was a really good time.

I stand corrected.

Wait, what type of swinging are you talking about JC? If you're on the same page as me, you might be thinking "swing night" in the back at Martinis, the old Fat Kat. I was asked to go about a year or so again and to "bring a date" Yeahhhh, I didn't make it.

Naaaa its Indigo Swing type music. I am actually DJing it tonight, but I am not the regular. I don't expect much of a crowd tonight.

As a side note often the kids I met from there couldn't find the beat if you were tapping it on their shoulder and the concept of "swing step" was TOTALLY lost in the lessons. Mostly there is more of a venue for general ballroom, but a few of the old school swing kids still show up and dance at River City Brewing Co. on Fridays. Earlier is better for swing. It gets more latin later. Personally I make the drive down to Orlando mostly when I want to dance. I lindy hop and most of the Murray Hill kids don't know what that is.
