Check out the front page of Jacksonville.com today.

Special Kudos to Rich Ray and his team for finally using the digital media up to its potential.

Front page is super fast loading, with an interactive portion showing what businesses and institutions are closed, and links to all the emergency numbers and sites.

Converting to digital media has been a process for the TU, but they are certainly doing it, as Joey Marchy points out in his latest post on Urbanjacksonville.com.  Heavens to betsy, they are apparently even using Twitter regularly over at the daily.

I need to second this...the overall coverage has been fantastic, and if nothing else, the use of Twitter is almost inspired. I'm not sure if it's done before elsewhere, but posting news blips on a popular service that's accessible from pretty much anywhere (most especially phones) is just a fantastic idea. In general I'm not a big proponent of Twitter, but in this situation, it's a perfect use, and I made sure that I 1) set my account to follow it and 2) set it up to view the feed on my phone - both while I knew I still had power/charge.

Once this is all passed, they are getting a very complimentary letter about this, with the encouragement that they need to STRONGLY advertise this sort of service throughout all of hurricane season. I probably wouldn't have even thought to look at the site or the Twitter feed without Stephen's encouragement here.
