I believe that there was a previous thread on this / the original building - now it's gonna be an expensive parking lot(?)

QuoteA Miami-based company has acquired a vacant half-acre lot Downtown for $1.4 million.

The 22,050 square feet of space at the corner of West Adams and Broad streets was known as 516 West Adams Street before the building previously on the site was razed by city order several months ago.

Manhattan Condominium Development Inc. of Miami acquired the property, which is across the street from the site of the proposed new county courthouse, from the Raabe Family Property LLC of St. Petersburg.

Nancy Link, an independent Miami broker, represented the buyer in the transaction and Monte Merritt, a senior director for GVA Advantis, represented the seller.

Although the buyer declined to comment on the sale, Merritt said it was purchased on speculation that it might be used for downtown parking until the proposed courthouse is built.

"This sale shows the revitalizing interest in the area," Merritt said.

The buyer paid $63.49 per square foot for the land. Merritt said vacant land in the same area typically runs for about $30-$35 per square foot.

The 18,000-square-foot, 3-story building that stood on the property since around the turn of the century included a stable in the rear.

I'm still optimistic that they'll do something good with it after the courthouse is up.

The sale is most likely a good thing.  COJ isn't managing it so theres that.
