Shootings at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport

A gunman opened fire at Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport Friday afternoon, killing at least one person and injuring nine others, according to law enforcement sources.

The suspected gunman is in custody, law enforcement say.

A tweet from airport officials says "There is an ongoing incident in Terminal 2."   No other information was immediately provided.

A former White House press secretary, Ari Fleischer, has been tweeting from the airport.   His initial tweet at about 1 p.m. indicated that shots had been fired and people were running.

About 10 minutes later a second tweet indicated that the situation has calmed down and there was a heavy police presence.

Aerial images show a group of about 100 people on a tarmac outside one of the terminals.
