Downtown Winn Dixie Converts to Harvey's Concept Grocer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. My first experience with Harvey's was when I attended college in Douglas, Georgia in the early 1990s.  Although the prices rivaled those of the nearby Winn-Dixie at the time, I was not impressed by the overall cleanliness or layout of the store.  I also was put off by the long checkout lines.  From what I see in the news, I think that Harvey's has made a change for the better as they expand their presence in our area.  That said, I doubt that I will become a regular of Harvey's as Publix, Fresh Market, Trader Joe's  locations are more convenient to me.

As a downtown resident, I am pleased to know that Southeastern Grocers is committed to downtown, whether as Winn-Dixie or Harveys. No other supermarket has done so.  Thank you.  :)

This is not good.

Harvey's is basically a lower end version of Winn-Dixie.

Cheap over quality. Think Family Dollar with produce & butcher.

But, it leaves a niche wide open for a small quality grocer in Downtown.
