Uh, not sure that's "downtown" as most people think of it, but good to see.

Would love to see one over at Berkman II finishing it up or knocking it down.

I truly love the boundary disputes on this site. Seriously. It's one of the things that comes up frequently.  I suppose that is the Southbank/North San  March area technically, but you can see it from downtown so, it counts

It gives the site such a cool local feel. "That's not Riverside that's Avondale, it's west of King and in the 3225 zipcode"  "That's not Mandarin that's Beauclerc!" The list goes on and on

I'm not disputing it, per se.  But is Brooklyn downtown, since you can see BofA tower from Brooklyn?  Try selling real estate or enrolling your kids in a Public school and you will see there is quite a bit of difference from one block to the next.  Folks have used the terms 'Northbank' and 'Southbank " around here for a long time, I don't think they consider them the same place. Do they?

I know, i'm just teasing. I'm the same way. I always correct people when they call where I work, Riverside. It's "Brooklyn!"

Or when someone tries to market a house or apartments off Emerson and 95 as "San Marco"

This is the only site where like-minded people care about it.

We should probably reframe it as "Greater Downtown Jacksonville" or something.  I live on a strange (but quiet) block in San Marco. I love it, but there are those who say "that's not San Marco" even though I'm 2 blocks from Metro Diner and HAE.

Technically, Brooklyn is inside of what the city considers to be downtown and this project is literally across the street.

Folks have used the terms 'Northbank' and 'Southbank " around here for a long time, I don't think they consider them the same place. Do they?

The Northbank is the historic downtown Jax core.  Historically, the Southbank was a separate city (South Jacksonville) with shipyards and a smaller business district of its own.  Today, most consider both to be sections of downtown split by the river.

Sounds like South Riverside or Mirarmar. Historically, San Marco was an 80-acre subdivision in South Jacksonville roughly bounded by the river, Sorrento Rd, Hendricks, Atlantic and San Marco Boulevard. It was so successful that over time people have completely forgotten that it was only a few streets inside an entire city on the south side of the river.

From the standpoint of a suburbanite for all of my life, ALL of it is downtown to those that don't live there.  The parts with the really tall buildings is the CBD, but if it's anywhere near there, it's downtown to us.  And, no, I'm not trying to be cute or flippant in saying that; it's really the way suburbanites think, as incorrect as it probably is.

My friends' little kids (who live near OP) say they're going to "the city" when they are headed to see us (San Marco) or downtown.
