Looking for volunteer opportunities

I am just getting my feet wet in the forum. I was wondering what organizations, non-profits, committees or BODs the members of metrojacksonville are spending there time on. I realize that most of you have many passions. I am an environmental scientist so I have been looking at groups like the St. Johns Riverkeeper and the North Florida Land Trust. But I would also like to know more about other cool groups in Jacksonville that might be less well know.

The main organization that I spend my time on is the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps in Jacksonville Beach. Our organization has a rich history with over 100 years of volunteer service in the community. I hold the position as Head Instructor and am responsible for the training of all new lifeguards for the organization. With 8 years of service and over 2000 hours of volunteer time I am now able to become a "Retired Man" in the organization. Although I am still going to volunteer some time with the group, I am now able to spend time exploring other opportunities.
