QuoteThe city would provide what's known as the "jughandle parcels" bordered by Riverside Avenue and May and Leila streets to house the pharmacy. Those parcels have an appraised value of $400,000, according to the DIA.

In exchange, Regency Centers would contribute land valued at $288,000 for a surface parking lot for the area. The DIA would first lease that back to Regency Centers for $1 a year for 10-20 years before taking it over. Wallace said that would provide much-needed parking for the area.

Please let the site plan be good. This is as visibile of a site as any in Brooklyn.

Interesting site for a pharmacy. Is there really enough space in that jughandle? I can see a building, but I doubt there is enough space for a drive thru. I know all pharmacies don't have drive thrus. It would look cool to build a building that mimics the footprint of that parcel. A nice rounded front entrance would be a great use of the land.

They sure do.  Yesterday approved 36-foot wide drive entrances for Gate on Park and Edison.   You know, the station which will have 20 pumps right off Park St.  That street that should be the main pedestrian entrance.

One of them said the City would take care of that with the road diet plan.  Here you have a DDRB member who doesn't know that the City will never alter that access once it goes in.  They discussed narrowing it.  They discussed right in right out only.  But Gate wants 36 and it got 36.

We need more public comment at these meetings.  One person is not enough to get these board members to follow the zoning code.

Dumb move on CVS part to not put a store in Brooklyn Station like they were supposed to.

I'm starting to think the purpose of this board is to do the exact opposite of following code.  If they green light everything why even bother with code downtown?
