Has anyone tried the new ice cream shop in Five Points?  It's Lee's Ice Cream and they are located next in th Al's Pizza building - where Marble Slab as located.  It's very good.  The apple pie ice cream is killer - tastes just like your grandmother's apple pie.
They have another location in AB - also next to Al's. Anyone from the Baltimore area should be very familiar with Lee's as that is where they are based.  Larry and Christine Fairman are the proprietors.
There is also a new flower shop right next door - the Flower Affair (I think) that also just opened.

Yes, I love their death by chocolate flavor. I went there the Saturday before they opened and they had free ice cream, anything you want! They seem cool, and the prices are "ok," but like you said the ice cream is good. I wonder what happened to marble slab...

I saw the florist place too... I wonder how long that will last.

Does anyone remember the Dapper Dan's Ice Cream in Five Points? That was always a good place...eons ago.

Jacksonville Confidential is reporting that Qdoba is closed now, and will be replaced by Five Guys. It seems that whole strip is being redone. Minus Al's and Allstate. I don't really want a Five Guys, it is basically an upscale burger king, but whatever. I wish we had a bakery like Paneras or Au Bon Pan. But I guess that is Publix's function.

yuk...finally tried 5 guys after everyone raved about it.  worse than BK IMO.

I think it is ok, but I don't know how long it will last. I believe Wendys is currently the hamburger power house in  Five points. I wonder how much they make in a week.

I always wondered why there are no McDonalds or Taco Bells in five points. I guess it is Wendys!!

Actually, I think five guys will do better there.  I prefer it over most fast food places, particularly the fries.

I personally prefer Moes to Qdoba anyway, so seeing Qdoba going is not really breaking my heart.

As far as Panera, no thanks.  The sandwiches are okay, but I feel a bit overpriced.  I always feel like I'm paying for the free internet.

Panera would do so well in that strip.

You mean Chipotle, why because its just like Mossfire 1 block away? That makes no sense. Like there arent already enough Mexican/tex mex restaurants already.  Dona Marias, Mossfire, Qdoba (gone thank god) and West Inn, why would you want another?   ???

Mexican Grills/Burrito Joints are so last year. We still love you Burrito Gallery, you are an exception to the rule.

We love Mossfire too, but Dona Marias needs to go away.

Living a 1/2 block from this strip I was sad to see Marble Slab go

It was a little pricey but the cheese-cake icecream with strawberry sauce was hard to beat.

I tried Lee's a week ago and wasn't too impressed.

Ice cream is better than no ice cream though
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.
