QuoteA men's salon that plans to open at 327 E. Bay St. was approved for funding at Wednesday's Downtown Investment Authority meeting.
The salon, called the Men's Room, received a $29,093 five-year forgivable loan from the DIA's retail enhancement grant program. The salon is the first business to get a retail enhancement grant since Mayor Lenny Curry's administration put a lockdown on Downtown funding.

William Keohane is opening the salon, and investing $29,093.50 of his own funds to do it.

DIA board member and retail enhancement grant program chair Jack Meeks said the business had a good concept, and would attract more foot traffic to the area.

"Some of the things they're thinking about doing would have a nice draw," Meeks said.
