Anyone know how much a normal round trip fare will be ? The ferry's down south are pretty cheap to get to Nassau.

Still much cheaper than the current connecting flights from Jax to Nassau.  The direct option should also be a big pull due to the convenience.  Yes, you can take a ferry, but that also involves a 4-5 hour drive south, and pricey parking as well.

Any additional direct flights out of Jax, especially of the international version, is great news.

Kind of expensive for that short of a flight.

Is this a poor attempt at sarcasm? $99 is 'kind of expensive' for that short of a flight?

Things that make you go hmmmm...

Ever looked at the price of a one-way to ATL (45 min) or MIA (45 min)? Likely to be 3x what Silver wants for an int'l flight. To pay $100 and be in Nassau before lunchtime is quite amazing for this market.

In other news, I know I should know the answer to this, being 'in the biz' and all, but what does this mean re: US customs? Will we now have customs officers in the airport? If so, where? Don't believe Nassau has US pre clearance, would be wrong?

Did they release what days they will be flying?  Doesn't Silver typically only fly 2 days a week?
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

Well they've been flying twice weekly to Marsh Harbour for awhile now...how do those flights work re: CBP?

Just what JIA needs... Those damned fools drilled holes in the framed paintings I brought back from South America! I understand a small test hole through the back side but all the way through? Idiots! Just imagine what they could do to a conch shell.

Nassau has a brand new airport that compares very well to U.S. airports today vs. the third-world ones they had previously.  Nassau has always had US Customs and Immigration pre-clearence and the new one still does.  You pass through it after navigating the ticket counter lobby.  Thus, no need to clear in Jacksonville (unless the DEA wants to drug sniff you with their dogs  ;) ).  With the much larger clearance area and the new ICE "self-clear" photo kiosks, clearance is generally much faster than before.  Just remember, you need your passport today.  Driver's licenses and voter ID's are no longer acceptable  8).

JAX does have a small customs facility - it's below Concourse C - planes would land at gate C5 and passengers go downstairs
