The first time I was in Asheville was about 20 years ago, visiting a friend whose family had moved from Lake Asbury to the boonies in NC (no other way to say it).

I really liked the feel and atmosphere of Asheville and its dt seemed compact and city like at the same time.  The surrounding quarters were nice, as well.

Came back a few years later on an east cost road trip and still liked it a lot. I can't really put my finger on what it was, Asheville just seemed like a nice place that I would like to come back and visit again.

Seeing these pictures make me miss my time in Asheville and Mars Hill all the more - thanks for putting this together!

There's definitely no place quite like li'l ol' eclectic Asheville.
