I predict The Artist formerly known as Prince, The Panda's Friend (formerly Meta World Peace, formerly Ron Artest), and Snoop Lion (formerly Snoop Dogg, formerly Calvin Broadus Jr.) will all make big announcements that they will be moving to The District (formerly known as Healthy Town) once the project is completed.

Do you really think I think the Jaguars are going to move to LA next year?

Dunno man, it's just some of your comments ( http://www.metrojacksonville.com/forum/index.php/topic,25747.msg432184.html#msg432184 ) make me wonder! :P

Hey - I'll be honest with you - I don't like the Jaguars (organization) and don't really care about the Jaguars (team). And I'll even admit that I wouldn't be surprised to see Khan (or whoever eventually owns the team) moving the team if someone with a better deal comes along. But even I know that's not happening next year and it's not likely to be LA!

I do think it's funny you took me to task on that wild prediction - but stayed mute on the completely reasonable prospect of the Jaguars winning the Super Bowl  ???

Edit: but the only reason I previously posted that the Jaguars suck was as a joke (you had accused me of personal attacks). It didn't come off as expected.

No problem Adam, I don't take anything personal on this forum, life's too short. I just like to keep things civil and on topic.
Speaking of on topic, I hope to be proven wrong, but I don't think the jags are superbowl bound, but playoffs a definite possibility.
We're on the right track, and hoping to see us in the superbowl in a few years!

No longer is it Metro Jacksonville speculation ;). Jaxsons realize All Aboard Florida is seriously considering extending their rail system to town. This news will significantly impact our discussions on the future of the Skyway, convention center, LaVilla/Brooklyn and the roles they all can play in downtown's revitalization.

Brasfield & Gorrie, HQ in Birmingham and with an office in Jax, has been chosen to handle the upcoming work at EverBank.

They have a very interesting portfolio (they also constructed UF's new indoor practice facility):

So far, so good. This could get *really* interesting.

Looks they are also constructed the Georgia Aquarium, and are contracted to construct the new Braves stadium.

A few weeks ago, I would've thought you were crazy. But I have to admit - their recent form is promising. Plus, given that they've barely managed to lose some of the games they've lost - they could well be on the road to a winning season next year.

I definitely noticed that. It makes me think there may be far more going on than is apparent. There may be far broader preliminary discussions going on than we realize, and a relationship being built between Shad Khan's organization (led by Lamping & crew) and the Brasfield & Gorrie team.

Which would be very interesting news for Jacksonville, a possible aquarium (at Metropolitan Park ? ? ?), the USS Adams . . . and possibly much, much more. Remember, the Braves new home (SunTrust Park) will be part of an entertainment district in suburban Atlanta. I pulled this from Wikipedia:

QuoteOn July 16, 2015 the Braves and concert promoter Live Nation announced a deal to develop and manage the long-planned entertainment venue adjacent to SunTrust Park. The venue will be called the Roxy Theatre in homage to the old Roxy Theatre that was torn down in 1972. The venue will have standing room-only capacity for 4,000 and feature about 40 music and comic shows annually. The theater is designed to help drive activity to the site on non-gamedays and it will also play host to special events.

Hmmmmm . . . sounds a bit like that amphitheater we're being promised . . . doesn't it? Add in that creative Flex Field, then do something imaginative with a freed-up Metropolitan Park, and . . . we could suddenly have a Florida-friendly, Jacksonville-specific entertainment district right on the river in downtown Jacksonville in the very near future.

I predict that the City once again squanders an opportunity to truly solve the pension problem...and, as a result, continues to not invest in the fuiture.

so the UF indoor practice barn cost $15 million.  From what has been made public, it seems the Jags facility is part of the $45 million that Khan is paying for.  Given that the team is also doing the club section upgrades, how much do we expect the Jags facility to cost?  Or perhaps it isn't realistic to think the amphitheater would cost $45 million, and that some city $ goes to the practice facility too.

So, tufsu1, you want to force some crazy accounting into the discussion? The costs are shared, not compartmentalized. The city is contributing to each, Shad is contributing to each. Who doesn't know that?

As for the "barn," I suspect it's going to be far different from those college facilities we see at Florida and FSU and a more simplified and limited version of this:

That might just be me, though, trying to give this major donor to Big Duval the benefit of the doubt.
