Mavericks at the landing changing brands

After doing major renovations in March, Maverick's is capitalizing on the growing live music scene in Downtown by rebranding and moving away from its identity as a country bar.

The venue, which is on the second floor of The Jacksonville Landing, will become Maverick's Live after eight years of business and, while it will still book country artists and bands, is expanding its focus to a variety of genres. It was a move that was already taking place, according to co-owner Darrin Kurtz, but after enhancing the stage, adding production areas and expanding green rooms earlier in the year, it was time to make it official.

I was thinking the same thing!
Hopefully they pick up some of the shows that would have gone to Freebird or are considering going to PVCH.

Well New Found Glory is playing there, so it's a start. That show would have most likely been at Freebirds. All jokes aside, I think this is a great move on their part. Could have a ton of potential as it is a fairly decent sized venue.

That type of venue is the sort of thing the Landing needs.
