Hey, I just said it was a pet peeve.  I wasn't trying to start a flame war.  Use made up words.  Who cares?   :) That wasn't even my point.

OMG, if someone says there is a parking shortage downtown, the sure as heck have no idea where downtown is on a map. But hey Sleiman is getting his parking deck at the Landing.

By the way, what happened to this...?

QuoteIn an effort to clean up the appearance of downtown, the JEDC has developed a Surface Parking Improvement Plan to address the blight stimulated by downtown Jacksonville's parking industry.

many of the lots have been cleaned up...for example, there is the one by the courthouse w/ the food truck in it. ...note that most over there now have fencing and/or border landscaping.

I've only noticed about two that have been cleaned up. The majority still look the same. A few shots from two weeks ago:

This is one that was "improved." The owner tore out the concrete slabs and put a for sale sign on the property.

I can feel the heat radiating off of those pictures.  I'm breaking a sweat.

What was the time frame that the decimation of Lavilla took place?
And which Mayor(s) were in office?

Early to mid '90's. Ed Austin was Mayor.

Yes, they do. A few stories behind some of the slabs in the images above will be shared next week!

Add 200 taxpayer subsidized covered parking spots for a 5 year deal.

This was a DIA project for all the surface parking lots with time tables and penalties attached for compliance. HEY! We need a dedicated ADA parking spot for 2014-190 and the $17,000,000 Southbank Riverwalk. Heard back from a school board person. Councilman Redman District 4 this is still your baby till July 1. Scott Wilson feel free to jump in here. Why not? A bike rack and a handicapped parking spot with one other parking spot so that a certain school board member or other kite surfer can have a hand launch next to Healthy Town.
